Covid Protocols
With DLAC 2022 in Atlanta rapidly approaching, we are closely monitoring COVID-19 cases and safety protocols. In particular, we are watching the latest increase in cases closely, including the evidence that the latest variant is more transmissible but causes fewer serious infections, particularly in fully vaccinated people (especially those who have received two doses plus a booster.)
This page exists for two reasons:
To ask your help in creating a safe, fun, and educational DLAC 2022.
To make sure that you are aware of our plans, and the ways that those plans may shift.
Key elements of our plans are:
We are following national, state, and local COVID-19 protocols and requirements, as well as the requirements of the Marriott Hotel, and will continue to do so. Marriott Marquis COVID-19 information is available here.
The Marriott’s guidance is as follows: “Unless it is required by local law or order, fully vaccinated guests are no longer required to wear face coverings or social distance in indoor or outdoor areas of the hotel. We ask that all unvaccinated guests continue to wear face coverings and practice social distancing when they are in public spaces inside the hotel.” Your understanding and cooperation is one of the ways you can help in making DLAC successful.
We are expecting about 1,000 attendees onsite in Atlanta. In many cases the space that we have will allow for some social distancing, but at this time we are not planning to put social distancing measures in place. For example, with our expected number of onsite attendees, most breakout session rooms will not be very crowded, but some particularly popular sessions may fill the room.
We are not planning to require attendees to show a vaccination card or a negative COVID-19 test result. We strongly encourage all attendees to take the health and safety of others into account when deciding whether to attend DLAC in Atlanta, if you will not be vaccinated.
Food services are likely to continue to adjust protocols with health and safety in mind.
For those who joined us in Austin in June 2021, you know that we experienced a few bumps in the road, often tied to labor shortages, but that overall the onsite DLAC was very successful. In 2022 we will again be relying on you to help us ensure the health and safety of all attendees, conference staff, and hotel employees. A major part of the help that we are requesting is in your understanding that we are doing our best to provide a great conference under shifting conditions.
